Park Life Café at The Swiss Tea Rooms
Reopened in 2022 after a 40 year hiatus, The Swiss Tea Rooms were rebuilt, replicating the footprint and style of the original building (1905) with the modern design paying homage in its large hipped roof and veranda. The café overlooks the River Derwent and the Grade II listed Belper River Gardens, which was constructed in 1905 by G Herbert Strutt, a major landowner and employer in the area who redeveloped the land as an area for his workers to enjoy and relax. Fuel your adventures with our freshly made food, from a thoughtfully constructed menu that offers something for everyone. Feast on a Full English Breakfast or savour a sausage sandwich in the morning. Heading into the afternoon, choose from a wide range of cooked-to-order delights where you can experience our Signature Brioche Burgers, Ultimate Toasties, Loaded Baked Potatoes and more! Why not indulge in our range of homemade cakes and bakes too?
Just popping in for a post-walk brew, then we’ve got you. Warm up with a Barista-crafted coffee made using our unique ‘Life Café Blend’, roasted in partnership with Clifton Coffee Roasters, who pride themselves on their environmental and sustainable and ethical approach to sourcing their beans from around the world. Or if you need a thirst-quencher after a day of adventure, you can cool down with an Ice Cream Milkshake or Infused Lemonade.

Yes, we currently have our Iced Drinks. We also have Afternoon Tea for 2, which is available throughout the year.

We're committed to serving commendable coffee. In the event you receive a drink that doesn't deliver 100% satisfaction (not quite hot enough for example), we'll remake it for you completely free of charge.

I thought you were environmentally-friendly, why was I served a drink in single-use plastic?
All of our takeaway packaging is made from plant-based materials and is 100% compostable, that includes our takeaway coffee cups, grab & go packaging, confectionary selection and condiment station provisions. More on our sustainability practices can be found here.
